As with all of our updates (or so it seems) - we have good news/ bad news. On the 26th - Sandy got a call from the Immunologist, Casey's lab results were back and he "failed" the test. He does have an immune deficiency. On the 31st they let us know that Casey has Transient Hypogammaglobulinemia Immunodeficiency (THI).
Obviously this is not great news, but in light of some of the other things they were testing him for ---- we are happy with this diagnosis. THI is a treatable and more importantly CURABLE syndrome. We see the specialist on the 8th to discuss our treatment plan. They are also going to do a Catscan at that time to evaluate the extent of the MRSA in his ears and sinus cavity(s). For now - all surgery is on hold.
We are going to Iowa City at the end of this month to confirm this diagnosis and see if there are any other treatment options for THI and or the MRSA.
